I have cheap perforated peels from aliexpress and they are fine. The blade is a bit on the thick side but with the front edge filed down they work great. Only problem i had was that the hardware to attach the handle is a little sloppy and will shake loose so i applied a dab of PVA (Elmer’s, or “wood”) glue to each screw and none of them have come loose in the last 2 years since then.

Of course, there are many grades of aluminum, and some sheet aluminum is extremely soft and bendy. 7075 sheet is as strong as many kinds of steel but costs more.

As for wood, eh, don’t saturate ’em in water (though if they were assembled in a much more moist environment than the one you live in, they may split anyway). I don’t personally like wooden peels so i don’t own one. the fiber/resin composite peels look interesting though. [/si…
