Interesting discussion of opportunity cost.

My understanding is that the term really only applies to situations where only one choice can be made…i.e.- if I choose to watch the Friday night football game in person, I’m giving up all other options for that time. I can’t see the opening night of my wife’s theater production. or… If I accept a offer for a new job and quit my current position, I have to give up the year end bonus. 

Not getting that is the cost of getting this.    

The weighted process discussed is way to determine the relationships of price/cost/utility/value. Which are all subjective. Anyone could simply buy as many mixers as needed to get all the benefits; there is nothing stopping you. My wife is stopping me from doing it, but that’s another story.
