Since you mention being a student and a dorm (which, presumably, is you current residence), you probably need to check if your school permits use of open flame appliances in residence halls or on campus. (I know for a fact that none of the schools I attend as an undergrad or grad student did so.) It would seriously suck to get evicted, if not expelled, cuz you’re trying to save a few bucks.
