Kettle Pizza Serious Eats Kit or….

In a previous post, I asked for and received some great tips (and links) about kitchen oven/broiler pizzas.  Thanks everyone for that!  As it turns out, running our kitchen oven hot for long periods isn’t going to work out.  But I feel like I learned a lot, so hopefully I didn’t waste everyone’s time.

So… now I’m looking at the Kettle Pizza “Serious Eats” edition kit, the one that comes with the tombstone stone and the 22.5″ “baking steel” (which goes above the pie).  I already have a 22.5″ Weber, which makes this kind of attractive.  I have been reading quite a bit about the evolution of the Kettle Pizza setup, and have seen people getting some seemingly great results with this one.  Since I already have the grill, I’d be looking at $576 (including shipping).

My question: What portable/small outdoor ovens should I be looking at as an alternative?  The Pizza Party 70×70 looks great, but I’d be at well over a grand all in, once I throw in a stand.  

Has anyone used the “Serious Eats” version of the Kettle…
