Some people lost jobs or hours, but it will still ultimately shake out in their favor. It’s a shame that we don’t have a better support network for this kind of casualty.

As someone with a professional career, I’ve never even heard of people getting substantial pay increases just because someone else got a substantial pay increase or because new hires are starting at higher wages.

When i was briefly a boss, one of the people on my team was severely underpaid, but corporate wouldn’t allow me to give them more than like a 1.2% bump, because they received a 10% bump when they transferred from another team a couple years earlier. They were earning about 65% of the average wage on my team.
